In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the evaluating Member State (EMS), France, received an application from Sumitomo Chemical Agro Europe S.A.S. to set an import tolerance for the active substance diethofencarb in bananas to accommodate for imports from certain Latin American countries. France drafted an evaluation report in accordance with Article 8 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, which was submitted to the European Commission and forwarded to EFSA. EFSA confirms that the applicant provided sufficient data to derive a maximum residue level (MRL) proposal at the level of 0.09 mg/kg. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concludes that residues of diethofencarb on bananas at the level expected following the treatment of the crop according to the agricultural practices approved in Honduras and Colombia will not result in a consumer exposure exceeding the toxicological reference values and therefore are unlikely to pose a consumer health risk.
